Feb 5 Update

By definition Heart Pine is the center portion of the pine tree, a non-living section containing the highest density of the tree. Each rafter, floorboard, structural beam and framing lumber from The Estill Train Depot in The New Depot Restaurant is true Old Growth Heart Pine. Only the best for Bluffton and all our customers. Coming early spring! Leave with the most awesome experience ever!

Feb 4 Update #2

This picture has several interesting points. First, the shutters are hand-made from excess Heat Pine Doors (We call them them our Door Shutters). The doors are cut in half, then two inches cut off outside perimeter, then turned 90 degrees to create the frame - to include the original lock and hinges from door. It is then sanded prepped with a black stain, and hand planed on edges to create distressed look. Note the black trim on the siding is also distressed to match the shutters. Both are tied to the clear-coated patina finish on the tongue and groove siding from The Estill Train Depot. We will look inside on the next post!

Feb 4 Update

Upstairs, outside dining will have the perfect accent of wrought iron. This picture shows iron from The Chrighton residence, who ran The Barnwell General Store for almost three generations in the town of Barnwell (next to Schilling). Most of the old heart pine in The Raw Bar is from The General Store, circa 1860 in Barnwell, SC!
